His Holiness Catholicos Aram I gave an interview to Unité des Chrétiens, a French ecumenical journal, and voiced his opinions and concerns on the current ecumenical scene.

In his reply to the questions, His Holiness stated that the ecumenical movement has lived a decline in the last decade. For this, His Holiness recommended the imperative of reviewing ecumenical structures, agendas and priorities. He also underlined that ecumenism should transcend limitations imposed by institutionalization.

The Catholicos also shed light on churches in the Middle East and the challenges they face, as well as on the Armenian Church, its mission and current challenges.
