The Armenian Theological Seminary’s curriculum includes theological and Armenological courses, as well as courses related to science, history and humanities. Modern and classical Armenian, Arabic, English and French are taught with equal importance.
The Seminary has two departments. Under the leadership of His Holiness Aram I, the Seminary’s dean and his assistants follow closely the academic life and the performance of the faculty, and take the necessary steps to improve its academic quality, making it more relevant to their conditions of present times.
The Dean of the Seminary is Very Rev. Father Barouyr Shernezian, He is assisted by V. Rev. Father Zaven Najarian, V. Rev. Father Kevork Karageozian.
The following courses are taught in the Seminary’s first department: Biblical and liturgical courses, ethics and catechism, Classical and modern Armenian, Arabic, English, French, Armenian history and geography, world history and geography, Armenian Church hymns, introduction to music, painting, mathematics.
The second department (seniors) contains the following courses: Introduction tot the Old and New Testaments, history of the Holy Bible, exegesis, systematic theology, pastoral theology, patristic, ethics, Armenian Church history, Church history, Armenian history, history of the Armenian culture, history of the ecumenical movement,, history of the world religions, liturgy, canon law, philosophy, psychology, sociology, pedagogy, history of the old and modern Armenian literature, classical Armenian, Arabic, English and French. The students have the chance to develop their interest in music and art.
The Seminary faculty includes 25 clergy and lay teaches. It is headed by His Holiness Aram I.
The Seminary academic life extends from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The seminarians mostly come from Syria and Lebanon, Greece and USA.
