The Catholicos Aram I has called for “Hamazkayin Zorasharj,” a worldwide mobilization of the Armenian community to protect Artsakh Armenians’ rights and to provide them with essential socioeconomic support. The call is in response to the recent tragic events of ethnic cleansing against the indigenous population of Artsakh.
Following consultations with the National Central Committee and the prelates of the Holy See of Cilicia, His Holiness established a special body consisting of the following members: H.E. Arch. Anoushavan Tanielian (Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy of the USA); H.G. Bp. Torkom Donoyan (Prelate of the Western Prelacy of the USA); Jirayr Habibyan, Esq. (Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Prelacy of UAE and Qatar); and Hagop Loussararian, constructor (Member of the Executive Committee of the Prelacy of Lebanon).
The body is already working towards its commitment, and to date, both the Eastern and Western prelacies of the USA have allocated $100,000 in aid to the project. The aid will be carried out systematically and meticulously with a focus on the pressing needs of the people of Artsakh.
