On Tuesday, August 29th, 2023, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I and the US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea met at the headquarters of the Holy See of Cilicia, in Antelias.
His Holiness expressed deep concern about the unfolding humanitarian crisis in Artsakh and underlined that the issue in Artsakh, apart from the humanitarian, is essentially political concerning the right of self-determination of the indigenous people of Artsakh. Acknowledging the USA’s solidarity with the people of Artsakh, the Catholicos added that Armenians expect more.
The Ambassador assured His Holiness to convey his concerns to the US authorities.
His Holiness and Ambassador Shea also discussed the matter of the delayed Lebanese presidential elections and stressed the urgency of conducting the elections to mitigate the socio-economic crisis in Lebanon.
