On the occasion of the 850th commemoration of the passing of St. Nerses Shnorhali (the Gracious), the newly renovated hall of St. Vartanants church in Kuwait was named after the saint. The official opening ceremony of the hall was conducted by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, on Thursday evening, May 11th, 2023.
Pontifical Vicar V. Rev. Fr. Bedros Manouelian delivered a speech and expressed his gratitude to His Holiness Aram I and the benefactor Mr. Giragos Kouyoumjian. Subsequently, the pontifical encyclical was read, where the significant role of Mr. Kouyoumjian through his generous donation was underlined. finally, His Holiness expressed his commendation to the benefactor and exhorted the faithful to continue serving the church and the community.
It is noteworthy that His Holiness Catholicos Aram I decorated Mr. Kouyoumjian with the Knight of Cilicia insignia, on Saturday, May 13th, 2023, during the official dinner in honor of the Catholicos.
