With the blessing of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, 4 seminarians were ordained as subdeacons, and 10 others as acolytes with an ordination ceremony conducted during the Divine Liturgy by H.E. Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, on Sunday, May 14th, 2023, at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, in Antelias. Rev. Fr. Azad Filikian served as the sponsoring priest.
Following the ordination, Arch. Shahan delivered his sermon citing Mark 10:15 “Anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” He stated that the Kingdom of God represents His will and presence; the receiving of the kingdom refers to obeying the Father; and the little child resembles the relationship of a child to their parents: as protectors and caretakers. Hence, it is necessary to be transformed, become like a little child, and trust the Lord by surrendering to His will.
Consequently, the Archbishop congratulated the newly ordained, the administration of the Seminary, and the teachers.
After the ordination ceremony, the newly ordained served at the altar.
