On Maundy Thursday, April 6th, 2023, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I presided over and conducted the Washing of the Feet Service, and delivered his message at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias.
In his sermon, the Catholicos highlighted the service of love and emphasized the importance of love in Christianity stating that love is the essence of God. God created the universe motivated by His Love, and although men sinned, He sent His Only Begotten Son into the world. Speaking about the ceremony, His Holiness invited the faithful to follow the example of Jesus and love one another with the same devotion and sacrifice.
Note that on Maundy Thursday morning, a Divine Liturgy was conducted and the Holy Communion was offered, while in the evening the Service of Darkness took place and the sermon was delivered by V. Rev. Fr. Kevork Karageozian.
