On the evening of Palm Sunday, the Opening of the Portals ceremony took place at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, presided by His Holiness Aram I. H.E. Arch. Gomidas conducted the ceremony, which symbolizes the Second Coming of Jesus Christ and the opening of the door of Salvation.
Arch. Gomidas delivered the sermon and underlined the message of the ceremony. He also reminded the faithful that Jesus is at the center of the Holy Week, during which His last supper with the disciples, betrayal, arrest, trial, crucifixion, burial, and finally His resurrection is marked, and encouraged the faithful to be alert for the second coming of Jesus to be able to enter from the Portals of heaven.
