The Palm Sunday draws hundreds of faithful to St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias to celebrate this special feast, listen to His Holiness’s message and receive his pontifical blessings. Furthermore, it is a unique opportunity for children to have their pictures taken with the Catholicos, who also offers them an easter basket prepared by the women’s auxiliary.
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I presided over the Divine Liturgy solemnly celebrated by H.E. Arch. Gomidas Ohanian.
Following the children’s procession traditional to the feast, the faithful assembled in the yard of the Church to listen to His Holiness Aram I’s pontifical message from the balcony of the main building. The Catholicos expressed his joy at the huge number of faithful who had come to celebrate the humble yet triumphant entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem and raised his voice in prayer to God asking for the protection of the Armenian people everywhere, especially in Artsakh, which is still blockaded by Azerbaijan.
Following the address, everyone recited the Cilicia anthem and the hymn dedicated to the Catholicoi.
