A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck the already devastated areas of Turkey and Syria on Monday, February 20th, 2023, and shook, largely, Antioch, Alexandretta (Hatay), Kessab, Aleppo, and Latakia regions.
This has caused further damage to the Holy Mother of God Church and many houses in Kessab.
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I remains in constant contact with the spiritual and lay leadership of the Armenian community in Syria to closely follow the aftermath and updates, raising prayers to God to keep the people of the region safe, grant the victims speedy recovery, and bring solace to all the affected families.
