His Holiness Aram I at the enthronement of Moran Mor Ignatius Aphrem II of the Syriac Orthodox Church

On Sunday 1 June 2014, His Holiness Aram I, accompanied by Bishop Shahe Panossian Prelate of Lebanon, and Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, Prelate of Peria (Syria), attended the installation ceremony of Mor Ignatius Aphrem II as Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Supreme Head of the Universal Syriac Orthodox Church. The ceremony was held at Mar Aphrem Church in Beirut.

 

During the Service, Catholicos Aram I addressed the faithful and spoke of the urgency for the two churches to deepen their unity in faith and strengthen their cooperation in view of the issues both churches are confronting. He then spoke of the new Patriarch and said that he has known him for many years and wished him well in his new ministry.

 

Later, Very Rev. Paren Vartanian represented His Holiness Aram I at the official luncheon offered by the Patriarch.
