The World Council of Churches commissions held their inaugural meetingÕ½ in WCC headquarters in Geneva from the 5th to the 8th of March, 2024 to discuss their strategic plan for the current 8-year cycle. On behalf of the Holy See of Cilicia, Arshav Jerjerian, a member of the Armenian Church University Students Association, participated in the Commission on Climate Justice and Sustainable Development (CCJSD).
The CCJSD emphasized the role of the churches in addressing climate justice, food & water issues, economics, biodiversity, and Diakonia as key points that ensure basic human rights for everyone. For the purposes of planning and bringing forth the application of these agendas, the commission will continue to convene both online and in-person, in the hopes of fostering cooperation and converging the efforts of all the parties involved in our attempt to shape a better future.
