On December 8th, 2023, the Bourdj Hamoud municipality council, headed by Mayor Mardig Boghossian, visited His Holiness Catholicos Aram I.

Mayor Boghossian presented a token symbolizing the Lebanese cedar tree as a gesture of gratitude from the municipality.

During the meeting, Council member George Krikorian gave a speech where he expressed gratitude for His Holiness’ significant financial contribution of 4.5 million dollars to the St. Jacque municipal housing project, which was crucial in completing the project during challenging times in Lebanon. Krikorian also outlined upcoming projects for Bourdj Hamoud’s welfare, with state and NGO support.

Deputy Mayor Mardig Arslanian also gave a speech where he emphasized the importance of these projects for the city.

In turn, His Holiness Aram I warmly welcomed the visitors, expressing pontifical and fatherly love. He pledged continued support from the Holy See of Cilicia for the prosperity of Bourdj Hamoud, commending the municipality’s work. His Holiness also highlighted Bourdj Hamoud’s significance as a synonym for Armenian presence and the cohabitation of different sects in Lebanon.
