The 15th General Assembly of the Christian Conference of Asia convened in Kottayam, India, from September 28th till October 3rd, 2023 with the theme “God Renew us in your Spirit and Restore the Creation.” H.E. Arch. Sebouh Sarkissian—Prelate of the Armenian Prelacy in Tehran, and deaconess Ani Kristi Manvelian participated in the GA on behalf of the Holy See of Cilicia.

The week-long conference reviewed the activities of the Executive Committee, General Secretariat, and other committees, aiming to enhance collaboration among the regional churches and promote religious dialogue. Finally, the delegates elected the Executive Committee of the CCA for the forthcoming five years, with Arch. Sebouh, member of the Executive Committee since 2010, securing his re-election.

Notably, Archbishop Sebouh highlighted the situation in Artsakh and urged the GA to issue a condemnation regarding the genocidal policies of Turkey and Azerbaijan against Armenians.

It is worth mentioning that on Sunday, October 1st, the Armenian Church delegates participated in the Divine Liturgy of the Indian Orthodox Church, during which Archbishop Sebouh delivered a sermon, and at the closing session of the conference, deaconess Ani Kristi participated in the prayer ceremony.

The Armenian Prelacy of Tehran has been a member of the Asian Council of Churches since 2010.
