THE “SHNORHALI CHOIR” OF THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA PERFORMS ON THE OCCASION OF ITS 50TH ANNIVERSARY WITH A REPERTOIRE OF ARMENIAN PATRIOTIC SONGS

With the blessing of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, the “Shornali” choir of the Catholicosate of Cilicia performed on the occasion of its 50th anniversary with a repertoire of Armenian patriotic songs, under the direction of V. Rev. Fr. Zaven Najarian, on Sunday evening, July 2nd, 2023, in Rabiew.

 

The choir was accompanied by pianist Hampig Mardirossian and the “Cilicia” band. Shnorhali members: Ghazar Keoshgerian; Hovig Tafranian; and Arman Der Bedrossian performed solo songs.  

 

The concert commenced with the Lebanese, Armenian, and Artsakh anthems. Subsequently, Tamar Koudjanian Nazarian and Shoghig Yepremian made the opening remarks.

 

Notably, Varty Salkhanian recited a poem dedicated to Aram I on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of his consecration as Catholicos.

 

The concert concluded with His Holiness’ heartfelt speech, where he expressed his commendation to the choir members and conductor for their hard work, and underlined the importance of keeping the Armenian patriotic songs alive in our everyday lives.
