His Holiness Catholicos Aram I and his pontifical delegation were warmly received by the Consul General of Lebanon to Canada Mr. Antoine Eid, at the General Consulate, on June 5th, 2023.
The delegation consisted of Prelate HE Arch. Papken Tcharian, V. Rev. Fr. Barouyr Shernezian, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Armenia in Quebec Mr. L. Afeyan, the co-Chair of the Central Council of the Catholicosate Mr. K. Mahseredjian, the Chair of the Central Committee of the Prelacy Ms. Terzian, the ARF Bureau Chair Mr. H. Der Khatchadourian, and the ARF Central Committee chair Mr. M. Karakashian.
Mr. Eid welcomed the Catholicos and expressed gratitude for His Holiness’ accepting his invitation to visit the General Consulate, and mentioned, in his speech, the imperative role of the Lebanese Armenians in Lebanese history.
In turn, Aram I expressed his gratitude for the invite and his kind words. The Catholicos remembered the hospitality of the Lebanese of 1915, who welcomed and protected the Armenians fleeing the Genocide without discrimination, and stated that the Armenians of Lebanon are part and parcel of the Lebanese society.
