On Friday, May 5th, 2023, the newly appointed Canadian ambassador to Lebanon H.E. Stefanie McCollum visited His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, at the Catholicosate of the Holy See of Cilicia. Krikor Mahseredjian—Co-chair of the Central Council of the Catholicosate—and the ambassador’s political advisor were present at the meeting.
Since this was the ambassador’s first visit to the Catholicosate, His Holiness gave a brief description of the mission and different bodies of the Armenian Church and focused on the Armenian communities in Lebanon and Canada. They also discussed the challenges facing Lebanon.
In turn, McCollum commended the active participation of the Lebanese Armenian community in Lebanon’s politics, as well as expressed his admiration for the Canadian Armenian community.
