It is customary for the Sunday School students of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, headed by their director, adorned with their “Poon Paregentan: costumes to visit His Holiness Catholicos Aram I on the Eve of the Great Lent.

As such, on February 19th, 2023, following the Divine Liturgy, His Holiness received the children in the atrium of the Catholicosate where they conversed with His Holiness and performed hymns and songs they learn in Sunday School.

In turn, Ms. Janine Tanielian, the director, gave a speech. where she expressed joy and gratitude on behalf of the Sunday School family for the opportunity to visit His Holiness on the Eve of the Great Lent and receive his blessings. She seized the occasion to announce that the students had run a collection in the example of the “widow’s offering” for the families devastated by the recent earthquakes that hit Syria. Subsequently, His Holiness expressed his commendation to the teachers for their dedicated mission, and to the parents for entrusting their children to the church.
