On Thursday, January 12th, 2023, the “Matenadaran” Mashtots Institute of Ancient Manuscripts in Yerevan, Armenia, held a launching ceremony for “Proceedings of the Executive Council of the Diocese of Adana (starting 2 march 1905, ending 10 April 1915).” a volume jointly published by the Catholicosate of Cilicia and the “Matenadaran.” With the blessing of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, the director of the Cilicia Library and Departments of Manuscripts and Ancient Books at the Catholicosate H.E. Arch. Shahan Sarkissian attended the event.
Arch. Shahan, who wrote the foreword of the volume, addressed the audience during the ceremony and underlined the significance of the research. The volume is edited by Armen Malkhasian with a research team from the archives department of the Matenadaran. He stated that the volume is a great source that depicts the everyday life and challenges of Adana Armenians between 1905 and 1915. From an archival point of view, the volume is also a rich resource for studying the modern history of the Armenian Church.
