According to Cilicia TV, quoting the Chancellor’s office of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia, the High Commissioner of Diaspora Affairs of Armenia Zareh Sinanyan had invited His Holiness Catholicos Aram I to the Global Armenian Summit, a month ago in a phone correspondence, and His Holiness had expressed his concerns and reservations in organizing such an event during alarming times faced by Armenia and Artsakh and under unfavorable conditions in Armenia.

The source also states that the Central Committee of the National General Assembly had shared the Catholicos’ concerns during its recent meeting. Given that the Holy See of Cilicia was not included in the organizational process of the summit, moreover, the invitees were limited to individuals while diaspora organizations were not included, the Central Committee deemed the participation of the Holy See of Cilicia and its prelacies unsuitable.  

“At the present fateful moment of our modern history, the unity of the leadership in Armenia, Artsakh and the Diaspora, and pivotal decision making for the wellfare of Armenia and Artsakh is more than imperative and urgent. This should be the focus of our concern and work today,” has stated His Holiness during the Central Committee meeting.
