ORDINATION OF DEACONS IN ANTELIAS

On Sunday, June 12th, 2022, under the auspices of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, Archbishop Gomidas Ohanian celebrated Divine Liturgy and performed the ordination of three Seminarians—Yervant Yeghyayan, Antranig Minassian and Serge Keosherian—as deacons, who were led to the alter by V. Rev. Fr. Kevork Karageozian.

During the ceremony, the candidates ascended the altar on their knees where the officiant priest raised his prayers to God and asked Him to endow the newly ordained with heavenly wisdom, and administered onto them the right to wear a stole on the left shoulder, read the Gospel and administer the censer during the Divine Liturgy.

Subsequently, Archbishop Gomidas delivered his sermon. He congratulated the Catholicos and the Church on the occasion, and encouraged the newly ordained to follow the example of our Lord, stating that the stole on their left shoulder symbolizes the sweet yoke of Jesus Christ.

At the end of the liturgy, the three deacons, along with the 19 acolytes and sub deacons who were ordained a week ago, accompanied by the officiant priest, met with His Holiness Aram I to receive his blessings.
