Christlicher Hilfsbund Im Orient, a German humanitarian association, celebrated its 125th jubilee. On this occasion, His Holiness Catholicos Aram I extended a pontifical letter and expressed his appreciation to the association for providing humanitarian assistance to the Armenian people.
During the Armenian Genocide, and in particular in response to the Hamidian Massacres in the mid 1890s, the association established care centers in Adana and Marash (in Cilicia, modern day Turkey) to provide assistance to the victims. The Association has since continued its service to the Armenian Community in Lebanon by establishing the Armenian Boarding school in Anjar, and Syria, as well as in Armenia.
