THE FEAST OF THE HOLY TRANSLATORS AND THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 2021-2022 ACADEMIC YEAR OF THE SEMINARY

As per tradition at the Catholicosate of Cilicia, on the Feast of the Holy Translators, the Divine Liturgy is officiated by the Dean of the Seminary at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, in Antelias, followed by a celebration in the Main Hall of the Catholicosate to mark the opening of the academic year of the Seminary. On Sunday, October 10th, 2021, His Holiness Aram I presided over the celebrations of the Feast.

At the end of the service, the pontifical procession and the faithful headed to the Hall, where hymns, anthems, and bible readings were held during the first part of the celebration. In the second part, the Dean of the Seminary, V. Rev. Fr. Barouyr Shernezian, delivered a speech and offered a briefing on the updates to the curriculum and program of the new academic year.

Finally, His Holiness Aram I gave his pontifical speech. He stressed the significant role of Armenian schools in the formation of the Armenian Identity, especially in the Armenian Diaspora, and at the same time shed light on the unique mission carried out by the Seminary, which provides intellectual and spiritual development and prepares students to serve the people and the church.
