On Tuesday, May 18th, 2021, the recent publication “100th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia: Conference Materials (Antelias, 21-23 March 2018)” was presented in the Presidential Center of the National Academy of Science of the Republic of Armenia (NAS of RA), in Yerevan.
The publication was released this year and contains the research papers presented by a group of social scientists and historians from Armenia, Artsakh and the Armenian Diaspora during the three-day conference, which was presided by His Holiness Aram I, held in March 2018 at the Catholicosate of Cilicia.
The editor of the volume Prof. Ashod Melkonian, director of the Institute of History of NAS of RA, delivered the opening speech. He underlined that the publication contains material that exhibits that the Armenian Independence of 1918 is not a standalone event but has roots emersed in events occurring in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In his final remarks, he expressed his gratitude to the Armenian Embassy in Lebanon and Ambassador Mr. Vahagn Atapekyan for assisting in realizing the event.
Subsequently, Prof. Yuri Suvarian, academician at the Armenian Studies and Humanities department of the NAS of RA, historian Yervant Pamboukjian, Khatchig Dedeyan, chancellor of the Catholicoste of Cilicia and Shahan Kandaharian, editor-in-Chief of the Lebanese-Armenian newspaper Aztag Daily also delivered their remarks.
