On Friday evening, May 31st, 2019, the Armenian Alumni Association (AAA) had organized a talk by Alain Balian, former Central Bank vice-governor, about the current Lebanese economic situation.

Rev. Bedros Manuelian, the spiritual advisor of the Association, Rev. Fr. Levon Yeghiayan, AAA members and friends were present at the event.

Hagop Handian, the chair of the Association, delivered the welcoming remarks and Silva Karavartanian introduced the guest speaker.

Alain Balian presented the current Lebanese economic state, the state budget deficit, its reasons and possible solutions. Balian also talked about the investments of former president Fouad Chehab regarding the infrastructure of the country, and answered questions regarding corruption, finance, possibilities for economic growth, currency devaluation, among others.

Finally, Rev. Fr. Levon Yeghiayan delivered the closing remarks and thanked the guest speaker for the presentation and the audience for their interest.

The meeting was followed by a reception and a buffet.
