Under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I and organized by the Christian Education Department of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, the two-day Inter-Diocesan Christian Education Conference convened on the morning of February 1st, 2019, in Antelias. The participants of the conference were representatives of Christian education departments of the Catholicosate’s prelacies constituting the Christian Education Committee, which is chaired by H.G. Bishop Meghrig Parikian and coordinated by V. Rev. Zareh Sarkissian.

Following the welcoming remarks by Bishop Meghrig, His Holiness Aram I declared the conference open and presented its direction and course. In his speech, the Catholicos stressed the spiritual, cultural and national mission of the Catholicosate and stated that the Armenian Church has always taken a comprehensive approach to its service towards the mission. His Holiness continued that Christian Education is not one aspect of the Church’s mission, but the Church is Christian Education. Talking about present day challenges, the Catholicos underlined that Christian Education is not limited to Bible study gatherings or children attending Sunday schools, adding that present-day conditions, mindset and specificities of time and place must be taken into consideration while designing Christian Education Curriculum.

At the end of the conference, the Committee drafted a guideline on new methods of communicating Christian Education to people taking into consideration their ages, sexes, environment, as well as examined contemporary social ethical issues.
