ORDINATION OF DEACONS AT THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA

On Sunday, June 10th, 2018, under the auspices of His Holiness Aram I, Bishop Meghrig Parikian celebrated Divine Liturgy and performed the ordination of ten deacons from the Seminary.

During the Service, Fr. Zaven Najarian, the sponsoring priest, led the candidates to the alter. They came to the altar on their knees and gave their oath to renounce worldly attractions and devote their lives to the service of the Church. Bishop Meghrig Parikian vested them the rank of Deacon.

In his message and advice to the newly ordained Deacons, Bishop Parikian gave the example of the lives three saints; St. Gregory of Nareg, St. Nerses and Joshua and encouraged them to follow their examples. He also commanded them to keep the image of the Lord in their lives and always remain in prayer in order to stay firm in their devotion.

At the end of the liturgy, the newly ordained deacons accompanied by the ordainer and the sponsoring priest, met with His Holiness Aram I, who blessed them with the traditional “Bahbanich” prayer.
