During his three day official visit to the Vatican, His Holiness Aram I emphasized the importance of the recognition and the reparation of the Armenian Genocide. His Holiness asked Pope Francis, both in His private and public meetings, to give His support to the Armenian cause.
The issue of Armenian Genocide was present also during His Holiness meetings with the Vatican state secretary Cardinal Parolini and with the president of the Vatican’s Eastern Churches division Cardinal Sandrini as well as the press.
In His sermon, In St. Egidio church, the Catholicos spoke of the theological and spiritual meaning of martyrdom and linked it to the Armenian Genocide.
