On Sunday evening, April 21st, under the auspices of His Holiness Catholicos Aram I, the conference organized bhe “Cilicia Analytic Platform” continued its discussions.
The session started with the presentation of Shahan Kandarian. The speaker presented the media coverage of Azerbaijan’s genocide against Atsakh. He referred to statements from formally recognized three sources: First, Yerevan and Stepanagert; second, nongovernmental and internationally recognized institutions, legal and political experts; third, statements officially endorsed by the constitutional bodies of governments. Dr. Arpiné Paploumian continued and presented the 2023, media coverage of the deportation of the population of Artzakh from their homeland. She analyzed different methods, strategies, and implicit intentions in her presentation. Dr. Vahram Palayan moderated the session.
The second session continued with the presentations of Dr. Hrayr Balian and Dr. Vicken Cheterian, moderated by Prof. Armen Maroukian. Dr. Balian started by raising questions regarding the failure of negotiations on the mountain region of Karabagh; he explained the reason for the conflict between the mediating parties, the pursuit of the vested interest of each, and not seeking a solution to the problem. Dr. Cheterian addressed the issue of establishing the status and equilibrium of power-sharing. He analyzed the reason for the defeat, the lack of strategic allies, and the role of Armenia in international relations. The session concluded after a detailed analysis of the issues.
