His Holiness Catholicos Aram I addressed the faithful at the Srpots Nahadagats (Holy Martyrs) Church in Abu Dhabi during the second day of his pontifical visit to the Armenian Diocese of the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, on Tuesday, January 24th, 2024.
His Holiness was warmly welcomed at the gates of the church by Prelate HG Bp. Mesrob Sarkissian, the Pontifical Vicar of the Kuwait Diocese V. Rev. Fr. Bedros Manouelian, the pastor of the said church, V. Rev. Fr. Vatche Balekjian, the pastor of the Dubai and northern UAE community Rev. Fr. Aram Deyirmenjian, the co-chair of the Central Council of the Catholicosate, Krikor Mahserejian, the chair of the Armenian National Representatives Assembly (NRA) of the Diocese, Mr. Varoujan Nerguizian, members of the NRA, Diocesan Executive Council, local parish committee, students of the Ara Khanoyan Armenian school, and the faithful.
Following the canonical prayer, the prelate welcomed His Holiness, expressed gratitude for his visit, and invited him to address the faithful.
His Holiness recognized Bishop Mesrob’s dedicated ten years of devoted service, emphasizing his contributions to the organizational aspects of the diocese, as well as fostering inter-religious and ecumenical relations. He also extended appreciation to the United Arab Emirates for providing considerable opportunities to the Armenian community.
Addressing the congregation, His Holiness emphasized the importance of faith in Christian life, citing examples from Christ’s teachings and miracles. He highlighted the church as a community of faith, urging believers to live in God’s presence and rebuild their lives with faith to confront life’s challenges. In conclusion, His Holiness made a paternal call to strengthen faith through active participation in the collective life of the church.
