Dr. Hratch Tchilingirian, Associate Faculty Member in Armenian Studies at Oxford University’s Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies, visited His Holiness Catholicos Aram I on Tuesday, July 11th, 2023.
Dr. Tchilingirian is a participant in the online consultations with His Holiness on issues pertaining to the revitalization of the Armenian Diaspora within the framework of the 2023 declaration. Shahan Kandaharian—editor-in-chief of Aztag Daily, a Lebanese Armenian newspaper—who is the moderator of the above-mentioned consultations, was in attendance.
His Holiness Aram I shared with the guests his observations and the main topics raised during his pontifical visits to Greece, Cyprus, Kuwait, and Canada regarding the Armenian Diaspora. In light of the above, he suggested outlining the necessary steps to efficiently reach the revitalization and reorganization goals.
Dr. Tchilingirian stressed the need to delve more into new definitions of diaspora identities and matters and set up a work plan in accordance. Finally, he presented to His Holiness a three-volume publication of research on the Armenian Diaspora that he has led.
