A MEETING BETWEEN CATHOLICOS ARAM I AND ARCHBISHOP GEORGIOS III OF CYPRUS IN NICOSIA

A meeting took place between His Holiness Catholicos Aram I and His Beatitude Archbishop Georgios III of Cyprus at the Archbishopric Palace of the Greek Orthodox church in Nicosia, on Monday, March 20th, 2023.

 

The meeting was an opportunity to give a general overview of the historical relationship between the two churches and their people. They also discussed the terrible difficulties caused by Turkey’s occupation of Cyprus, especially in the field of exercising the freedom of religion and faith. They underlined the imperative of pursuing the rights of the Armenian and Greek nations with a united effort.

 

The meeting was concluded with an exchange of gifts.

 

It is noteworthy that His Holiness was accompanied by H.E. Arch. Khoren Doghramajian­—Prelate of Cyprus, Krikor Mahseredjian—Co-chair of the Lay Council of the Holy See of Cilicia, Vahan Aynejian—Chair of the Diocesan Representatives, Sevag Gurunlian—Chair of the Diocesan Lay Council, V. Rev. Fr. Sarkis Aprahamian— Director of the Middle East section of the Ecumenical Department.
