MARKING THE EVE OF THE FEAST OF THE PRESENTATION OF THE LORD TO THE TEMPLE IN ANTELIAS

On Sunday, February 13th, 2022, the eve of the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord Jesus Christ to the Temple was celebrated at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias, presided over by His Holiness Catholicos Aram I. During the special service, Antasdan (Blessing of the Four Corners of the World), presenting the children to the altar for blessing, and the traditional bonfire took place.

On this occasion, His Holiness delivered his pontifical message where he emphasized the importance of offering our children as well as ourselves to the Lord, following the example of the Virgin Mary and Joseph. He then underlined the role of the church, the family and the school in nurturing moral values in the new generation.

At the end of the service, a candle was brought from the altar and given to the Catholicos, who initiated the lighting ceremony. Subsequently, a procession headed by His Holiness moved to the courtyard and lit the bonfire.
