The Governor and the Political Leadership of Isfahan Meet with His Holiness Aram I

19 October 2014. On Sunday, after the Holy Liturgy, His Holiness Aram I received the Governor of Isfahan, his deputies, the head of religious affairs and the chief of internal security at the Holy Saviour Monastery. This was the first such visit in the centuries-long history of the two peoples. The Governor first thanked Catholicos Aram I for his visit to Iran, his leadership and the significant contribution of the Armenian community to the city. During their conversation they also discussed the situation in the Middle East.

The three Prelates, Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, of Tehran, Bishop Papken Charian of Isfahan and Bishop Krikor Chiftjian of Aderbadagan, as well as Bishop Magar Ashkarian and representatives of the Diocesan Council, were present at the meeting and they all joined the Catholicos and his guests for lunch.

In the afternoon, Catholicos Aram I attended the General Assembly of the Diocese. The theme of his message was “the meaning of ‘Being with God’ today.” The Catholicos said that God sent his Son to accompany humanity and to teach them how to walk with Him. The question and the challenge today is the following:  “To what extent is humanity obedient to God’s teachings?”
