His Holiness Catholicos Aram I Ratified the Election of V. Rev. Fr. Sahag Yemishian as the Prelate of the Prelacy of Greece

On July 1st, 2024, the Diocesan National Representatives Assembly of the Prelacy of Greece convened for an exceptional meeting with the sole agenda of electing a new prelate for the prelacy. After reading His Holiness’s message, the election took place and V. Rev. Fr. Sahag Yemishian was elected.

The results were then communicated to His Holiness asking for his ratification. His Holiness ratified the election and offered his blessings in a pontifical letter.

V. Rev. Fr. Sahag Yemishian, born in Yerevan in 1983, entered the Armenian Theological Seminary in 1997. He had been serving as the Vicar General of the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Church in the USA, and the Pastor of Sts. Vartanants Church in Ridgefield, New Jersey. Ordained as a celibate priest in 2006, he received the ranks of Vartabed (Doctor in the Dogma of the Armenian Church) in 2010 and Supreme Vartabed in 2016. He holds an MA in Theology and Ministry from Boston College and is currently pursuing a PhD in Administration and Leadership at Fordham University.
