THE ARMENIAN CHURCH, HOLY SEE OF CILICIA PARTICIPATES IN THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF THE MIDDLE EAST COUNCIL OF CHURCHES (MECC)

The Executive Committee of MECC held its meeting online on August 3rd, 2021. H.G. Bishop Mesrob Sarkissian – the chair of the Gulf churches Fellowship – and Dr. Jean Salmanian – member of the Ecumenical Committee of the Catholicosate and member of ExComm of the MECC – participated in the meeting on behalf of the Armenian Church, Holy See of Cilicia.

 

Following the approval of the minutes of the previous meeting, attendees discussed administrative matters and took the necessary decisions, as well as established a theological and ecumenical department. They also examined the MECC General Secretary’s report regarding the challenges of the Christians in the Middle East in the light of the recent meeting of the Lebanese religious leaders in the Vatican.

 

During the meeting, a committee was appointed to review and update the bylaws of the MECC: Dr. Jean Salmanian will be representing the Orthodox Churches in the committee.

 

It’s noteworthy to mention that the General Assembly of the MECC will be held in May 2022.
