The annual Conference of Secretaries of World Christian Communions held a virtual meeting on October 20th to the 22nd, 2020, in lieu of its yearly gathering, due to the Coronavirus. V. Rev. Fr. Hrant Tahanian, Ecumenical Officer of the Catholicosate, participated on behalf of the Catholicosate of Cilicia. Our church’s report was offered to the members of the conference, detailing our ecumenical initiatives and challenges, as well as future endeavors, followed by a heartfelt plea for their prayers, fellowship, and solidarity.
Fr. Hrant shared the dire situation of the Armenian church. First the Beirut explosion of August 4th that left the Armenian neighborhoods, which are located right next to the port, seriously damaged. As well as the currently distressing situation with the war in Artsakh. Fr. Hrant detailed the calamitous state of the conflict, and asked all members of the commission to pray for the Armenian church, its people, its nation, its children, and its soldiers.
