A SOLEMN DIVINE LITURGY ON THE OCCASION OF THE FEAST OF THE HOLY TRANSLATORS AND THE OPENING OF THE 90TH ACADEMIC YEAR OF THE ARMENIAN THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY

On Sunday, October 11th, 2020, on the occasion of the Feast of the Holy Translators, the opening of the 90th academic year of the Armenian Theological Seminary took place with a Divine Liturgy, which was presided by His Holiness Aram I and celebrated by the newly appointed Dean of the Seminary His Grace Bishop Meghrig Parikian, and with a ceremony held in the Main Hall of the Catholicosate, following the service.

Bishop Meghrig commenced his sermon reciting famous 20th century Armenian Poet Kevork Emin’s “Mer Aypupene” (Our Alphabet), and menitoned that the academic year of the Seminary always begins with a Divine Liturgy dedicated to the Holy Translators to celebrate the importance of their work. He concluded by inviting the faithful to pray for the Seminarians and ask God to bestow upon them heavenly wisdom and openness to receive the graces of the Holy Spirit.

At the end of the service, Pontifical Procession proceeded to the Main Hall of the Catholicosate, where the opening ceremony of the 90th Academic year of the Seminary was held.

Following the opening remarks by V. Rev. Fr. Kevork Karageozian, the Dean of the Seminary Bishop Meghrig invited His Holiness Aram I to give his address.

In his speech, Aram I underlined that the Armenian Theological Seminary of the Catholicosate of Cilicia is an important element of the big family of the Catholicosate that we are all part of. He then shed light on the battles that we are fighting on three fronts: war against Armenia and Artsakh, financial difficulties, and the coronavirus pandemic, and citing St. Peter, he wished that all three of these battles end quickly and victoriously. He ensured that the Church stands with its people during these difficult times and underlining the mission of the Seminary, he wished the 90th Academic year would be prosperous. He concluded his address raising prayers to God to bless His children with heavenly grace.
