THE FEAST OF THE EXALTATION OF THE HOLY CROSS AT THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA

The last of the five major feasts of the Armenian Church and the second of the four feasts of the Cross, The feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, was solemnly celebrated on Sunday, September 13th, 2020, at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral in Antelias. The Divine Liturgy was presided by His Holiness Aram I.

The celebrant priest was Archbishop Shahan Sarkissian, director of the Catholicosateā€™s Library. In his sermon, he cited Psalm 60:4, stating that the banner mentioned in the Psalm refers to the Cross, Jesus Christ Himself, and that He is present in our lives protecting us against all forms of enemies. His Eminence underlined that the Cross is the banner of the Kingdom of Heaven, and all those who looked at the Cross were saved.

Following the Divine Liturgy, Aram I addressed the faithful through Cilicia TV with a pontifical speech dedicated to the feast.
