HIS HOLINESS CATHOLICOS ARAM I VISITS THE ARMENIAN CHURCHES IN BEIRUT AND THE SUBURBS DAMAGED DUE TO THE BEIRUT EXPLOSION

On Tuesday morning, August 11th, 2020, His Holiness Aram I visited the Armenian churches in Beirut and the suburbs to closely inspect the damages. He was accompanied by the prelate of the Armenian Prelacy of Lebanon, members of the Diocesan Council of Lebanon and Cilician brothers.

Upon his visit, Aram I encouraged the Armenian community to Lebanon to not despair, and asserted that through collective faith and dedication, the community will revitalize, and regain its significant role in the Armenian Diaspora.

The churches His Holiness visited included St. Nishan, St. Hagop, St. Kevork, St. Harutyun church in Remeil, St. Hovhannou Garabed, Sts. Forty Martyrs, St. Sarkis, St. Asdvadzadzin and Sts. Vartanants, as well as the Armenian United College in Bourdj Hamoud.

The tour was concluded by a meeting between the Catholicos and the prelacy representative bodies at the prelacy, where Aram I stressed the importance of damages evaluations in order to carry out an organized work.
