THE ORIENTAL ORTHODOX CHURCH COUNCIL IN THE MIDDLE EAST MEETING IN ANTELIAS

With the blessing and upon the invitation of His Holiness Aram I, on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th October, 2019, the meeting of the Oriental Orthodox Church Council in the Middle East was held at the Catholicosate of Cilicia, in Antelias.

 

Archbishop Nareg Alemezian, Prelate of Lebanon, Bishop Magar Ashkarian, Grand Sacristan of the Mother Cathedral, Methropolitan Thomas and Metropolitan Angelos from the Coptic Church, Metropolitan George Saliba and Metropolitan Daniel Kourieh, from the Syriac Church, participated at the meeting.

 

His Holiness Aram I received the representatives in his office at the Catholicosate, and then invited them to join him for lunch.

 

During the two-day meeting, the assembly members discussed issues related to theological dialogues, ecumenical relations, inter-church visits, Christian-Muslim dialogue and current sociopolitical situation of the Middle East. The meeting also planned the forthcoming meeting between His Holiness Aram I, Patriarch Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II, in May 2020.
