On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Hamazkayin Lucy Tutunjian Art Gallery and at the request of the Hamazkayin family, His Holiness Aram I decorated Mr. and Mrs. Garbis and Lucy Tutunjian with the “St. Mesrob Mashdots” insignia for their significant contributions in the national, religious, cultural and social spheres of the Lebanese Armenian community, on Friday, September 13th, 2019, in the “Prapion Doumanian” auditorium at the Armenian Theological Seminary.
Hagop Havatian, director of the Art Gallery, presented a brief biography of the couple and shed light on their dedication to the welfare of the Lebanese Armenian community. Subsequently, Vahe Barsoumian, family friend of the Tutunjians, took the podium to express his heartfelt remarks.
The ceremony concluded with His Holiness Aram I’s address followed by reading the Pontifical Encyclical on this occasion and bestowing upon Mr. and Mrs. Garbis and Lucy Tutunjian the “St. Mashdots” insignia. His Holiness commended the couple for their dedication and stated that they have selflessly served the community.
After receiving the insignia, Mrs. Lucy Tutunjian delivered her thank you speech.
Note that the event included an artistic program: Fr. Oshin Chvalertanian performed on the Duduk, and Sirvart Boyadian-Sabounjian and Nayiri Ghazarian, music teachers at the Hamazkayin’s Parsegh Ganatchian Music school, performed a duet on the piano and cello.
