The Catholicosate of Cilicia is happy to announce the approval of the German government to support a Conservation and Restoration Project of its rare manuscripts within the collection of the Rescued Treasures of the Catholicosate of Cilicia.

The project is entitle Safeguarding the Survival of the Rescued Treasures of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia in Sis. Conservation and Restoration of the ancient manuscripts, and is listed within the program of Preservation of World Cultural Heritage of the German Government. It was initiated and submitted in cooperation between the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia, The Association of Armenian Culture Heritage Protection (Germany) and The Institute for Conservation Sciences of The Stuttgart Academy of Art and Design (Germany).

After two years of intensive preparations, a team of German experts began with the conservation and restoration work at the museum in August 2019.

The project targets and supports core missions of the Catholicosate, to preserve the sacraments of our spiritual and cultural identity, to educate the cultural awareness of Armenian generations and to safeguard a respectable place for our historical heritage among the cultures of other nations.

We are deeply grateful to the German government of recognizing and supporting the importance of the Rescued Treasures of The Catholicosate of Cilicia in Sis.
