On Monday, July 15th, 2019, His Holiness Aram I received a delegation of artists from the Republic of Armenia who took part in a summer festival in Bikfaya, under the title “Charming Armenia in Bikfaya.”
The artists and His Holiness talked about the importance of the Armenian culture in maintaining the Armenian identity. His Holiness stated that culture is not only a tangible expression of collective identity but also a strong element in preserving it, and in today’s world, where globalization has taken over the collective identity, it is imperative that people keep celebrating their culture and traditions, however, with constantly reviving and rejuvenating them.
The Catholicos commended the “Charming Armenia in Bikfaya” initiative, which, besides introducing the culture to the non-Armenians, was also an opportunity to strengthen the Armenia-Diaspora relations.
During the visit, the artists presented pieces of Armenian traditional and spiritual music on their Armenian Canon and Duduk, and Fr. Oshin Tchvalertanian joined them with his Duduk.
