On Wednesday, May 8^th, 2019, His Holiness Aram I presided over the meeting of the Lay Council of the National General Assembly.

Topics related to administrative, financial and communication spheres were discussed during the meeting. Special attention was given to the re-organization of Prelacies, Diaspora-Armenia-Artsakh cooperation and the role of the Catholicosate in this regard. The meeting also discussed reports given on the Birds’ Nest Orphanage, Armenian Elderly Home, Armenian Sanitorium of Azounieh, Armenological Center, Pedagogical Center and the programs on the Western Armenian language.   

In his opening and closing remarks, His Holiness Aram I underlined the followings:

1. The Catholicosate, alongside its Central Committee and affiliated bodies, aims its plans to serve its faithful
2. The Catholicosate is not solely an administrative headquarter, rather a people-oriented Christian mission and service
3. The Catholicosate and its Prelacies form one entity. This approach should be at the center of their mission and service
