MAUNDY THURSDAY AT THE CATHOLICOSATE OF CILICIA

“WE SHOULD APPLY THE MESSAGE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST’S LOVE TO OUR PERSONAL AND COMMUNITY LIVES”

His Holiness Aram I

On Maundy Thursday evening, April 18th, 2019, His Holiness Aram I presided over the Washing of the Feet Service at St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, in Antelias. The service commemorates the act of Christ washing the feet of His disciples during the Last Supper; hence, following His example, the Catholicos washed the feet of 12 priests and deacons.

In his message, His Holiness shed light on Jesus’ Love and stated that His Love is the source of Christian life, adding that the incarnation of God is the utmost demonstration of Love towards us. Aram I continued talking about Christ’s Love from theological perspective and stated that this Love encompasses service and humbleness. The Catholicos concluded his message by inviting the faithful to renew their commitment to Christianity and apply the message of our Lord Jesus Christ’s Love to their personal and community lives.

Note that, in the morning, the Canon of Repentance followed by the Eucharist was celebrated with Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral.
