On Friday, March 22nd, 2019, His Holiness Aram I presided over the meeting of the newly formed Ecumenical Relations Committee of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, in Antelias. Archbishop Sebouh Sarkissian, Prelate of Tehran, was the chair, and V. Rev. Fr. Hrant Tahanian, Director of the Ecumenical Relations Department, was the secretary of the meeting.


Following His Holiness’ brief introduction of recent developments in ecumenical and inter-religious affairs, and the active role of the Catholicosate of Cilicia, the meeting proceeded with discussions of the following topics on the agenda: the participation of the Catholicosate in ecumenical councils; the current stage of theological dialogues; as well as Christian-Muslim dialogue and the contribution of the Catholicosate in this field on the local and international levels.
