HIS HOLINESS ARAM I RECEIVES THE AMBASSADOR OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES TO LEBANON

On February 19th, 2019, His Holiness Aram I received the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Lebanon H.E. Dr. Hamad Saeed Al-Shamsi. Present at the meeting was also Bishop Mesrob Sarkissian, the Catholicosal Vicar of the UAE and Qatar.

 

During the meeting, they talked about the current situation in Lebanon, especially after the formation of the new government, as well as about the United Arab Emirates and its Armenian community. The Ambassador highly assessed the role of the Armenian community of the UAE in various areas of the state, especially in the economic sphere.

 

Subsequently, the Ambassador was given a tour of the Catholicosate’s St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, the Armenian Genocide Memorial Chapel and the Memorial dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Independence of the Republic of Armenia. The Ambassador then, accompanied by Bishop Sarkissian, headed to the Birds’ Nest Armenian Orphanage in Jbeil. H.E. Dr. Al-Shamsi was introduced to the Orphanage and its activities and programs, and distributed presents to the children. The visit was concluded with a tour of the Armenian Genocide Orphans’ “Aram Bezikian” Museum.
