Catholicosate of Cilicia
Antelias - Lebanon
Every Wednesday morning, the graduating class at the Armenian Theological Seminary attends 2 hours of theoretical theology and pastoral theology courses lectured by His Holiness Aram I. In fact, the Catholicos has been teaching theology at the Seminary since he was serving as Prelate in Lebanon.
Cilicia TV came across His Holiness leaving the class on Wednesday and had a short conversation with him. Answering the question paused regarding what subjects are tackled during the courses, Aram I stated that the methodology used includes holistic approach and within the context of contemporary thinking. He underlined that theology is not mere theory or philosophy, but a combination of reasoning and faith to understand issues pertaining God-men relationship, and continued saying that God revealed Himself to men; hence, theology is an attempt to understand the teachings of the Christian faith within the scope of revelation. He added that theology addresses everyday life matters, such as who is man, what is man’s vocation, why did God reveal Himself to men, how can one understand the existence of good and evil, why are there climate issues and any subject related to God-man-creation relation
