On Wednesday 16 January 2013, Ambassador Ghadonfar Rokon Abadi met His Holiness Aram I and briefed him on the efforts of his country to bring an end to the crisis in Syria.

After listening to the Ambassador, His Holiness stated his position as follows: First, a political solution must be found immediately in order to avoid additional losses of human life. Second, all external interferences should stop. The conflict should be managed in view of the interests of the citizens of Syria and the country. Third, any solution to the conflict in Syria should include the rights of Christian communities in the political, economic and social structures of the country.
